Foaling Management

When your mare comes to our Nursery Facility she is carefully managed, whether she lives here year round or just during the foaling phase of her maternity cycle.  Her vaccination schedule is reviewed and updated and her diet is evaluated and adjusted if necessary to prepare her for the hard work of foaling.

As your mare's due date approaches she is carefully watched for any signs indicating potential problems.  Our Foaling Staff has lots of foaling experience giving them "an eye" for potential problems.  If they observe any irregularities, they immediately alert Dr. Jeff Edelson so that he can evaluate the situation.

When your mare is close to foaling, a "Foal Alert" monitor is put in place.  She is moved into the Foaling Barn and monitored 24/7 by our qualified foaling staff.  A camera is installed in each foaling stall allowing us to monitor the mare between regularly scheduled exams.

You, as the owner, are welcome to visit your mare at any time.  We know this is an exciting event for you too.  We will notify you the minute the foal is born if you'd like...or the morning after.

Ask the Foaling Staff...we love all our foals born at the clinic.  We treat each mare as if she were our own.  Your mare will be in the best hands possible and in a facility prepared to address foaling complications with immediate attention.

We will send you, your mare, and new foal home with complete post foaling care instructions.  We're only a phone call away to answer any questions.

Dr. Jeff Edelson has had over 10,000 foals born under his care during his more than 30 years of practice.

What differentiates us ...

... is that we really, really love our job!
